I think I can speak for quite a lot of people (especially Ellen DeGeneres!) when I say we all have waited YEARS to see the sequel to Finding Nemo.
Just today I was able to see Finding Dory (I promise NO SPOLIERS), I was surely not disappointed. It's funny and heartfelt just as Finding Nemo was. Again, I will NOT spoil anything for those of you who have not seen it (which I HIGHLY recommend you see it!), but I will talk about one of the big themes stressed in this movie.
Family is everything.
The overall premise of this movie is Dory searching for her parents. And, if you have seen the first movie, you would know Dory suffers from short-term memory loss. But, as the movie progresses, she finds herself slowly remembering things about them. Not only memories, but also the feelings.
When you were born, your parents took care of you. They fed you, played with you, changed your diapers, got you dressed, and tucked you in bed at night. As you got older, they started teaching you right from wrong. Eventually, say about middle school/high school, you began to make your own choices. At this point, your parents, while they cannot make the decisions FOR you, they can at least GUIDE you in a certain direction. Sure, you will have your arguments and differences, but it's all part of growing up and becoming your own person. There's no such thing as a "perfect" family, only a strong one. And, the only way to grow stronger is to overcome challenges. Your parents are the ones who have seen you at both your best and worst, and will love you through it all.
No matter how old you get, your parents will ALWAYS be your parents. They will ALWAYS love and support you through anything, no matter what. I know for me personally, if things were not going right, I could always turn to them. Whatever it is you may be going through, chances are they may have gone through it too. And, most importantly, they will never give up on you.
Family also doesn't just consist of your parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, or cousins. Family is anyone you feel close to, people you can always be yourself, like your friends. I'm sure there are unforgettable memories you cherish. Not only that, but also the feelings behind those memories.
Family will always be your backbone. Family will always be your light at the end of the tunnel. Family will always bring out the best in you.
Family is home.
Family is everything.
